"Backface came from a process of natural discovery and renewed energy.
Hello our name is letting go, we've learned there's much you can't control. Cross the line to the other side, everything feels good, you're alive.
It's recognizing our influence or lack of, and the freedom one gets from that discovery. Backface is a made up word that literally means the back of your face - your state of mind. The song is by far the most aggressive on the record. The chorus melody and the beat initially came out of an idea we had ages ago with the intention to turn it into a song. We recorded at Rubber Tracks with Aaron Bastinelli and ended up using that first take of live vocals and drums. At shows, this song really revs people up. Something about the line, Backface on lets go we're out the door, to the other side of life" resonates. I think deep down, people want to let their guard down or unarm themselves. The spirituality of rock n roll :) " - Vanessa Bley
lyrics
Hello our name is letting go
We've learned there's much you can't control
Cross the line, to the other side
Everything feels good, we're alive
Hello our fate, we can't control
But we wanna see you rock n roll
Plan your seeds, let em' grow
Love yourself, love your friends, and get old
Here we go, lets go, we're headin' up whooo
Follow me, don't follow out the door, to the other side of life
I wanna let something out
We're infinitely spread about, out
I don't know why, we care
If we just lived, let go and got lost
Here we go, lets go, we're headin' up whooo
Follow me, don't follow out the door, to the other side of life
Turn it round, right round we're headin' up
Backface on lets go, we're out the door, to the other side of life
Cuz we're out and we're in, and we let go like fools
But we do it for you, a love so true
And we're gone, and we're back, back to the room
Here we go, lets go, we're headin' up whooo
Follow me, don't follow out the door, to the other side of life
Turn it round, right round we're headin' up
Backface on lets go, we're out the door, to the other side of life
